think of it as (-4x+1)(3x+2) then distribute: -4x x 3x= -12x^2, -4x x 2= -8x, 1 x 3x = 3x, and 2 x 1=2. put together all the answers we just got so: -12x^2 - 8x +3x +2 then simplify to get -12x^2 -5x +2
