Answer:

The required equation to represent the number of tickets purchased is

8 x + 6 y = 40

Explanation:

Here, the cost of 1 movie ticket for adult = $8.00

The cost of each ticket for child = $6.00

Total Money We have to spend on tickets = $40.00

Now, let us assume the number of tickets booked for adults = x

And, the number of tickets booked for children = y

So, the cost of x adult tickets = x ( Cost of 1 adult ticket) = x ($8) = 8 x

And, the cost of y children tickets = y ( Cost of 1 children ticket)

= y ($6) = 6 y

Now, total cost of tickets = Money spend on (Adult's + children's) Ticket

8 x + 6 y = $40.00

Hence, equation to represent the number of adult tickets and the number of children’s tickets than can be purchased with $40.00

8 x + 6 y = 40
