My little sister, Savannah, is three years old and has a piggy bank that she wants to fill. She

started with five pennies and each day when I come home from school, she is excited when I give
her three pennies that are left over from my lunch money. How much money will Savannah have
after 10 days? How many days will it take for her to have at least $1.50? Justify your answer with
a mathematical model of the problem situation.

Answer:

35 pennies

Explanation:

Savannah started with 5 pennies. You gave her 3 pennies each day for 10 days. The first day you gave her 3 pennies she now has 8. Now the for the second day you add 3 to 8 which 11. You keep adding 3 each day for 10 days.

Easiest way: 10×3=30 30+5=35

She will have 35 pennis after 10 days.

I answered the first question where it asked: "How much money will Savannah have after 10 days."
