How many joules of work are done if you carry a box that weights 34 newtons up a ladder for a distance of 2 meters?

Answer:

Workdone(W) = Force(Newton[N]) x displacement(metres([m])

Weight of box = mg = 34Newton

mass of weight = 34/9.81 = 3.4658m

Now Workdone = Force x displacement

but Force = mg

Hence, Workdone = mg x displacement

Workdone = 3.4658 x 9.81 x 2 = 68Nm = 68Joules(J)
