Answer: 9cm

Explanation:

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(length + width)

Perimeter = 32cm; Width = 7cm

Thus length =

32cm = 2( L + 7cm)

Expanding the bracket

32cm = 2l + 14cm

Collect like terms

32cm - 14cm = 2l

18cm = 2l

Divide through by 2

18cm/2 =2l/2

9cm = l

Therefore, L = 9cm

To check,

Perimeter = 2(l + b)

32cm = 2(9cm +7cm)

32cm = 2(16cm)

32cm = 2 x 16cm

32cm = 32cm
