ABCD is an isosceles trapezoid with legs AB & CD and base BC if the length of AB is 7Y-4 the length of BC is for 4y-6 and the length of cd is 8Y -18 find the value of y

The value of y is 14.

Explanation:

Given,

Length of AB =
7y-4

Length of BC =
4y-6

Length of CD =
8y-18

Since ABCD is an isosceles trapezoid then according to property of trapezoid which is given below;

"In any isosceles trapezoid, two opposite sides (the bases) are parallel, and the two other sides (the legs) are of equal length."

So Length of AB = Length of CD


7y-4 = 8y-18\\8y-7y=-4+18\\y= 14

Hence the value of y is 14.
