Answer:

BD is 3.75 units

Explanation:

Given:

BA = 6 units

CA = 8 units

DC = 5 units

To Find:

BD = ?

Solution:

Triangle Angle Bisector Theorem.

An angle bisector of an angle of a triangle divides the opposite side in two segments that are proportional to the other two sides of the triangle.

I.e Here in Δ BAC,

AD is the Bisector of ∠ A

(BA)/(CA)= (BD)/(DC)

Substituting th above given values in it we get

(6)/(8)= (BD)/(5)

BD = 5* (6)/(8) \\\\BD = (30)/(8) \\\\BD = 3.75\ units\\

Therefore BD is 3.75 units
