Answer:

Original dimension =
0.127 * 0.09525 inches.

Explanation:

Marie has a copy of the painiting whose dimensions = 2 \times 1.5 inches

Scale of the copy is 1 inch equivalent to 40 centimeters.

Originally, 1 inch is equivalent to 2.54 centimeters.

Thinking logically , we see that in Marie's copy , the painting is enlarged.

In place of 2.54 cm , the scale was taken to be 40 cm.So to find the equivalence factor of the original painting ,we need to divide 2.54 by 40.

The equivalence factor of original painting =
(2.54)/(40)

= 0.0635

Hence the original dimensions =
initial dimension * equivalence factor

=
(2 * 1.5) * 0.0635

=
0.127 * 0.09525 inches.
