Answer: the number of corn dogs sold was 28

the number of hot dogs sold was 53

Explanation:

Let x represent the number of corn dogs that were sold.

Let y represent the number of hot dogs that were sold.

The number of hotdogs sold were three fewer than twice the number of corn dogs. It means that

y = 2x - 3

Hotdogs cost three dollars and corn dogs cost $1.50 and $201 was collected. It means that

1.5x + 3y = 201 - - - - - - - 1

Substituting y = 2x - 3 into equation , it becomes

1.5x + 3(2x - 3) = 201

1.5x + 6x - 9 = 201

1.5x + 6x = 201 + 9

7.5x = 210

x = 210/7.5 = 28

y = 2x - 3

y = 2×28 - 3 = 56 - 3

y = $53
