Answer:

stimulants

Step-by-step explanation:

The kidney and the heart are vital organs of the body system. The heart is a major part of the cardiovascular system that helps majorly in pumping and distribution of oxygenated blood to all the organs and parts of the body including the kidneys. The kidneys on the other hand, are primarily responsible for the removal of waste products from the blood as well as maintaining osmotic balance.

The proper functioning of the kidney is dependent on the proper functioning of the heart, and vice versa. The kidney relies on the supply of oxygenated blood from the heart to be able to carry out its functions. Any failure of the kidney to perform its job would cause a lethal effect on the heart functions as well. In other words, for the good health of a body, both organs must work in tandem at optimal level, as inefficiency of one would affect the other.

There are several factors that are capable of affecting the proper functioning of any of the organs. One of such factors is the use of stimulants, especially illicitly.

Stimulants are psychoactive drugs that increase the activity of the nervous system and body functions. Examples of such drugs include cocaine, nicotine, marijuana etc.

Stimulants are usually used in prescribed form in treating attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but when misused or taken in higher doses, it can result in increased blood pressure and temperature, psychosis and abnormal heart rate, which are major predisposing factors that causes kidney failure, stroke, heart attack and seizures especially in people who abuse these drugs or use them illicitly.
