21/4x+9/8=2

pretend that 2 has a denominator which is 1. 2/1

move 9/8 to the other side

sign changes from +9/8 to -9/8

21/4x+9/8-9/8=2/1-9/8

21/4x=2/1-9/8

find the common denominator for 2/1 which is 8

multiply by 8 for 2/1=(2)(8)/(1)(8)=16/8

21/4x=16/8-9/8

21/4x=7/8

multiply both sides by 4/21 to get x by itself

21/4x *4/21= 7/8(4/21)

cross out 7 and 21, divide by 7

cross out 4 an 8, divide by 4

x=1/2*1/3

answer:

x=1/6

Answer:

x = \frac 16

Explanation:

(21)/(4) x+\frac9 8 =2\\

Multiply both sides by 8
