Step-by-step explanation:

During mining activities, water is being contaminated by increasing the level of acidity which is harmful to man and water bodies. In order to curb this menace, water is being treated by addition of lime for neutralization process, hence; making it useful for consumption and other usage.

Also emissions from materials used in mining activities has caused so many environmental problems but over the years the usage of modern technology has helped drastically to reduce this emissions (sulphur dioxide, hydrogen sulphide among others). The use of smelter has recorded a giant stride in the control of emission over the years.
