Question:

Tomas makes balloon sculptures at a circus.in 180 minutes,he uses 252 balloons to make 36 identical balloon sculptures.

b. what is tomas's unit rate for balloons used per minute.

Answer:

Tomas unit rate for ballons used per minute is 1.4 ballons per minute

Solution:

Given that in 180 minutes, tomas uses 252 ballons to make 36 identical sculptures

To find number of minutes to make 1 sculpture divide 180 by 36

\text { number of minutes to make 1 sculpture }=(180)/(36)=5

So he takes 5 minutes to make 1 sculpture

Given that he uses 252 ballons to make 36 sculptures

To find number of ballons in 1 sculpture divide 252 by 36

\text { number of ballons in 1 sculpture }=(252)/(36)=7

So he uses 7 ballons in 5 minutes

To find unit rate for ballons used per minute divide 7 by 5

\text { unit rate for ballons used per minute }=(7)/(5)=1.4 \text { ballons per minute }

Thus tomas unit rate for ballons used per minute is 1.4 ballons per minute
