Answer:

1.67 mol

Step-by-step explanation:

Data given

Amount of aluminum (Al) = To be find

Amount of FeO = 2.5 mol

Solution:

First we have to write the balanced reaction of aluminum (Al) with FeO

2Al + 3FeO ---------> Al₂O₃ + 3Fe

From the reaction we can predict the reacted amount of aluminium (Al) with FeO as shown below:

3FeO + 2Al ---------> Al₂O₃ + 3Fe

3 mol 2 mol

So 3 mole of FeO react with 2 mole of Al

Now to find moles of aluminium that react completely with 2.5 mol of FeO

we have to apply unity formula

if 3 mole of FeO ≅ 2 mole of Al

then 2.5 mole of FeO ≅ x mole of Al

By doing cross multiplication

mole of Al = 2 x 2.5 / 3

mole of Al = 1.67 mol
