HELP ASAP!!! Read the excerpt from “The Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar Allan Poe.

Suddenly there shot along the path a wild light, and I turned to see whence a gleam so unusual could have issued; for the vast house and its shadows were alone behind me. The radiance was that of the full, setting, and bloodred moon, which now shone vividly through that once barely discernible fissure, of which I have before spoken as extending from the roof of the building, in a zigzag direction, to the base.

What Gothic literature element is used in this excerpt?

A. the use of complicated words to create a sense of mystery

B. the use of sunlight to focus the reader’s attention

C. the supernatural element of a bloodred moon

D. the supernatural element of a path the narrator must follow

Answer:

D. The supernatural element of a path the narrator must follow.

Step-by-step explanation:

In Edgar Allen Poe's narrative short story "The Fall of the House of Usher", the narrator describes how he end up staying in the Usher House. the whole narrative included scenes of supernatural elements, which made the unnamed protagonist and narrator uneasy.

The given excerpt is from the last paragraph of the text where the narrator escaped from the 'horrors' of the house. On his way out towards the "old causeway" which he had once came through when he first approached the place, he realized that there was a "wild light... a gleam so unusual" lighting the path. turning to see from where the light came, he saw that the "vast house" had been 'broken' into two. The whole house came crumbling down under the "blood-red moon". Throughout the whole description of the passage, Gothic elements prevail. One such case is in the description of the path that he has to go through on his way away from the house.
