Laura painted her room with pink paint that was made by mixing paint at a ratio of 5 parts white paint to 2 parts red paint. Will a mixture of paint that combines 15 parts white and 3 parts red create the same shade of pink as the paint that Laura used?

Answer:

No

Explanation:

Laura painted her room with pink paint that was made by mixing paint at a ratio of 5 parts white paint to 2 parts red paint.

Suppose Laura has 15 parts of white paint. This is thrice the amount Laura needs (because
15:5=3), so she has to have

2\cdot 3=6

parts of red paint.

Hence, if Laura combines 15 parts white and 3 parts red paint, then she will not create the same shade of pink as she used.
