The law of segregation states that:

a. the number of chromosomes in a cell is always divisible by 2.
b. eggs and sperm separate before fertilization occurs.
c. each of two alleles for a given trait segregate into different gametes.
d. gametes cannot be separate and equal.
e. an allele on one chromosome will always segregate from an allele on a different chromosome. 4.
4. The test-cross:
a. makes it possible to determine the genotype of an individual of unknown genotype who exhibits the dominant version of a trait.
b. is a cross of an individual whose genotype for a trait is not known with an individual homozygous dominant for the trait.
c. requires the self-fertilization of an individual whose genotype is unknown.
d. All of the above are correct.
e. Only a and b are correct.

Answer:c. each of two alleles for a given trait segregate into different gametes.

a. it possible to determine the genotype of an individual of unknown genotype who exhibits the dominant version of a trait

Step-by-step explanation:

The law of segregation of genes is examplifed with MEIOSIS 1 ,where sister chromatides ( alleles of a gene on the same locus) separated and behave independently of each other by positoning themselves on different spindles at Metaphase 1 for crossing over and independent assortment.

They migrated independently at Anaphase 1 to reach the equators which afrer telephase 1 and Telophase 2 i are located in different gametes.

Therefore the alleles of the genes behaved independently of each other, carting different genetic components to gametes.
