let's say the whole is "x", and thus is the 100%, we also know that 36 is 55% of "x", thus


\bf \begin{array}{ccll} amount&\%\\ \cline{1-2} x&100\\ 36&55 \end{array}\implies \cfrac{x}{36}=\cfrac{100}{55}\implies \cfrac{x}{36}=\cfrac{20}{11}\implies 11x=720 \\\\\\ x = \cfrac{720}{11}\implies x = 65(5)/(11)\implies x = 65.\overline{45}
