S phase or synthesis phase of the interphase is associated with the DNA replication mechanism which replicates or doubles the amount of DNA by making an exact copy of the DNA.

The amount of DNA remains same till the end of G₂ subphase as during G₂ phase the cell prepares itself for M phase.

Since the amount of DNA is 8 pg which will get doubled after S PHASE thus will become 16 pg and will remain the same by the end of G₂ subphase.
