1. You have three hypothetical mystery elements, green, yellow , and red (please note, these are not REAL elements and are just place holders ), with the following electronegativity values:

Green (G) = 0.6
Yellow (Y) = 3.2
Red (R) = 3.5

You react the hypothetical elements to form the hypothetical substances GY, GR, and YR

What kind of substance is GY? What kinds of bond is it? If an ionic ionic compound, which element is the cation and which is the anion? Explain your answer.

I need help with this. I don't necessarily want the answer, but I want some information about this stuff that would help me figure it out. Thanks!

So for what I know you find the difference of electro negativity between each element, that tells you which kind of bond it forms. If the difference is less than 0.4 you get a pure covalent bond; if the difference is between 0.4 and 1.8 you get a polar covalent bond; and if the difference is greater than 1.8 you get an ionic bond. The cation would be the element with the least electro negativity, and anions would be the elements with the higher electro negativity
