Answer: What are decimals? (To start)

Decimals are basically fractions. They both play the same role. They are both a piece or a part. For example.. 0.8. That is the tenths. The 8 can be also known as 80 because 8 = 80 in the tenths in decimals. As fractions, its also known as.. 8/10. Now, lets try another example. 0.07. What's that? Its known as the hundredths. Hundredths always has a whole number or not, and a decimal point to separate the decimal it and two other digits. Now thousands, and other numbers, you'd learn that sooner. And this passage, defined decimals.

Answer 2: How do you add decimals?

Just imagine decimals are fractions. You learned how to add fractions, right? That's the same thing for decimals. Here's and example. 4.5 + 3.4. (If you have paper, I recommend you use it to stack the two decimals up and make it easier.) Now, you just add both digits. 4 + 3 = 7. And 5 + 4 + 9. What do you get? That's right! 7.9. There is seven wholes and 9 tenths. (To make things easier, make the tenths like dimes.) Now lets try no whole number. 0.5 + 0.2. 0 + 0 = 0 And 5 + 2 = 7. This decimal will be 0.7. I hope you learned from this, thanks if you read. And I hope this is helpful!

Answer:

A decimal plus a decimal is exactly like adding whole numbers. All you have to do is take out the decimal and answer the question. Then add the decimal in wherever it needs to be. (hopes this helped you)

Explanation:

For example: 1.25 + 1.25 = 2.50
