∴
$(AB)/(FE) =(BC)/(EC)= (CD)/(CG) =(AD)/(FG) \\\\\therefore (BC)/(EC)=(AD)/(FG)$

substituting the given values we get

∴
$(10)/(5)= (AD)/(4) \\\\AD = 2* 4\\AD= 8\units$

∴ AD = y = 8 units
