Explanation:

on the right side of the equation we can add like terms, meaning adding the x terms with the x terms(that means including their coefficients, in this case that x has a 2 in front of it), and the normal numbers with the other normal numbers. So by simplifying the right side of the equation with the x terms first we have

x+2x=3x

and

5+2=7

Thus we get

3x+7
