In the question 2(8x - 1) = 20 i got 8/11 but the correct answer is 11/8 how do you determine which number goes on top and which goes on the bottom.

In the question 2(8x - 1) = 20 i got 8/11 but the correct answer is 11/8 how do you determine which number goes on top and which goes on the bottom.

When u solve the equation it should be 2•8x=16x and 2•-1=-2, 16x-2=20. Add 2 to both sides, equals 16x=22. Divide 16 on both sides. 22/16 which reduces to 11/8.

X=11/8
