Answer: 13.5

Explanation:

First arrange the scores in order:

5, 5, 9, 12, 15, 23, 26, 27

**remove 1st and last number in the set of scores every time**

Median of 5, 5, 9, 12, 15, 23, 26, 27=

Median of 5, 9, 12, 15, 23, 26=

Median of 9, 12, 15, 23=

Median of 12, 15 =

**Take mean of remaining two numbers**

(12+15)/2=

27/2=13.5
