Resistance in a material is essentially how much it resists an electric current. Metals conduct electricity and so therefore have low resistance. An insulator such as wood will have a very high resistance because electrons find it very difficult (if not impossible) to pass through it.

The order of resistance from lowest to highest is:
Copper
Plastic
Wood
