He worked for 9days
15 1/2 = 31/2
3 1/2 =7/2

31/2 - 7/2=24/2=12

12 hours+ 3.5 hours =15.5 hours

1 1/3 = 4/3

12/1 divided into 4/3 is the same as
12/1* 3/4 =36/4 =9
