Daniel has a candy jar with 32 jellybeans. He loves jelly beans and is trying not to eat them all at once. Every time he reaches in to the jar, he removes exactly half of the jelly beans. How many times does he reach into the jar so that he only has 1 jellybean left in the jar after he removes half?

Answer:

5 times

Step-by-step explanation:

32 / 2 = 16

16 / 2 = 8

8 / 2 = 4

4 / 2 = 2

2 / 2 = 1

Every time Daniel puts is hand in, he takes half of all the jellybeans.

The first time he put his hand in, there was 32 jellybeans and 32 / 2 = 16. After that, there was 16 so taking half would mean that there would be 8. Then this goes on till it reaches 1.
