Area of cardboard = 8x5 = 40cm2
Margin is 1.5cm wide and 8cm long on the longer sides
1.5x8 = 12cm2
Two sides = 24cm2
Margin is 1.5cm wide and 5cm long on smaller sides
1.5x5 = 7.5
Two sides = 15cm2
Total area of margins = 39cm2

A(margin) = 8 x 5 - (8-3)x(5-3) =
= 40 - 5x2
= 40 - 10
= 30 cm²
