The drawing shows a stack of paper cup. The cups are 10cm high. Each cup after the first adds 0.8 cm to the height of the stack. How many cups will fit in a dispenser that is 30 cm high?

26 cups can be fitted into the dispenser.

Explanation:

Given that:

height of cup = 10 cm

each cup adds = 0.8 cm to stack

Dispenser height = 30 cm

We have to find number of cups that can fit into dispenser:

When the first cup will be placed into the dispenser,

Available length will be = 30 - 10 = 20 cm

Now each next cup will add 0.8 cm so:

20 cm will have = 20/0.8 cups

20 cm will have = 25 cups

And the total (30 cm) will have = 26 cups
