Given what you know about in-groups and out-groups, why do you think that anti-immigrant sentiment increases in times of war or economic hardship?

Because people are afraid that immigrants will "take" their jobs, and that this will worsen the economic situation in the country, as well as a great feeling of exacerbated nationality in those moments where there is a fine line between reason and xenophobia.
