Answer:

9 units added

Explanation:

f(x)=x^2-6x+1

In competing the square method , we take the half of the square of the coefficient of middle term

6x is the middle term.

(6)/(2) =3

3^2=9

To complete the square , add and subtract 9

f(x)=x^2-6x+9-9+1

f(x)=(x^2-6x+9)-9+1

f(x)= (x+3)(x+3)-8

f(x)= (x+3)^2-8

So 9 unit tiles is added to the function to complete the square
