The body mass index is inversely proportional to the basal metabolic rate.
Studies in adult male prove that people with low BMI have high BMR and vice versa.
Explanation:
Body Mass Index – is the
weight of the person
(kg) divided by his/her
height
Basal Metabolic Rate – is the
amount of calories a body needs to fulfill its daily activities.
BMR is usually
higher in males than in females
. It also reduces with increase in age of a person irrespective of gender.
