Two samples, each with n = 16 scores, produce an estimated standard error of 4 points and a t statistic of t = 2.00. What is the sample mean difference?

Answer: 8

Explanation:

The formula to find the t-test statistic for differences between in two population mean:-


t=(x_(1)-x_2)/(SE)

,where
x_(1)-x_2 = sample mean difference

SE= Sample error

Given : SE= 4 points

t-statistic = 2.00

Substitute theses values in the above formula , we get


2=(x_(1)-x_2)/(4)\\\\\Rightarrow\ x_(1)-x_2= 4*2=8

Hence, the sample mean difference is
x_(1)-x_2= 8
