Answer:

45 invitees were at the annual party.

Explanation:

Given : The ratio of invitees who had a tie to the total number of invitees was 2:5. If there were 27 invitees who wore a bow tie.

To find : How many invitees were at the annual party ?

Solution :

Let the ratio be 'x'.

The number of invitees wearing tie = 2x

Total number of invitees = 5x

So, the number of invitees wearing bow tie = 5x-2x=3x.

The ratio of number of invitee wearing bow tie and number of invitees is 3:5.

Let y be the number of invitees at the annual party be 'y'

According to question,

(3)/(5)=(27)/(y)

y=(27* 5)/(3)

y=45

Therefore, 45 invitees were at the annual party.
