Answer:

36

Explanation:

Quantity of Potatoes purchased = 272 pounds

Let the number of 10 pound bag = a

Let the number of 5 pound bag = b

10a + 5b = 272-------------------------------------------------------------- (1)

From the question, a =9; substituting into (1)

10 (9) + 5b = 272

90 + 5b = 272

5b = 272-90

5b =182

b =182/5

b = 36.4

≈ 36

A total of 9 ten-pound bags and 36 five -pound bags will be made out of 272 pounds of potatoes. The Left of 0.4 pounds will be available for her family to eat.
