The are two ways to solve the system:

1. the substitution method:

for equation (1) y = 1/2x + 3

when x = 0, y = 3

when y = 0, x = -6

for equation (2) y = 3/2x - 1

when x= 0; y = -1

when y = 0; x = 2/3

this gives line C

2. another way to solve the simultaneous equations:

y = 1/2x + 3 ...1

y = 3/2x - 1 ...2

substuting (1) into (2)

3/2x - 1 = 1/2x + 3

x = 4

substituting x = 4 into (1):

y = 1/2x + 3

y = 1/2(4)+ 3

= 5

the point of intersection will be (4 , 5) which is line c
