Ferdinand Magellan was killed in the battle of Mactan. His enemies pierced his heart with a bamboo spear and attacked him with other weapons in gruesome manner while his soldiers which accompanied him did not help but retreated.

Step-by-step explanation:

He was a Portuguese navigator who traveled three quarters of the globe. He was the first to reach the Pacific Ocean from Atlantic. The famous Magellan strait was named after him when he traveled the strait which was life taking and dangerous. When he saw the shore on the opposite of the sea he wept with joy. They returned from the place where they found the waters to be silent and named it Pacific which in Latin means tranquil.

Ferdinand, saw himself spreading the message of Christianity and many in Mactan Island were converting to Christianity but this was not liked by a particular tribe which was led by Lapu Lapu. He refused to accept Christianity and his way to express condemnation was in the way of killing Ferdinand in a merciless manner.
