Explanation:

Given the 2 equations

y = - 4x + 2 → (1)

y = 6x - 8 → (2)

Substitute y = 6x - 8 into (1)

6x - 8 = - 4x + 2 ( add 4x to both sides )

10x - 8 = 2 ( add 8 to both sides )

10x = 10 ( divide both sides by 10 )

x = 1

Substitute x = 1 into (2) for corresponding value of y

y = 6(1) - 8 = 6 - 8 = - 2

Solution is (1, - 2 )
