add

- 7x + 8y + 7x - 9y = 19 - 17

8y - 9y = 2

- y = 2

y = - 2

- 7x + 8(- 2) = 19

- 7x = 19 + 16

- 7x = 35

7x = - 35

x = - 5

Answer:

Solution set = (-5, -2)

Explanation:

Given equations;

-7x + 8y = 19 ------------- eq1

7x – 9y=-17 --------------- eq2

Adding both equations:

-y = 2

OR

y = 2

Put value of y in eq2:

7x - 9(-2) = -17

7x + 18 = -17

7x = -17 -18

7x = -35

x = -5

Solution set = (-5, -2)

i hope it will help you!
