(2x - y = 2 => y = 2x - 2

(2x - 2y = 4

2x - 2(2x - 2) = 4

2x - 4x + 4 = 4

- 2x = 0

x = 0

y = 2·0 - 2

y = - 2

2x-y=2--------------(i)

2x-2y=4------------(ii)

Multiplying eqn i by 2 and subtracting with ii

4x-2y=4

2x-2y=4

- + -

________

2x=0

X=0

Putting the value of x in i

2×0-y=2

-y=2

y=-2

Hence the value of x is 0 and y is -2
