A rectangle is 4 times as long as it is wide. The perimeter is 150cm. Find the dimensions of the rectangle. Round to the nearest tenth if necessary

Length 60 cm

Let

x ----> the length of rectangle

y----> the width of rectangle

we know that

The perimeter of rectangle is equal to


P=2(x+y)

we have


P=150\ cm

so


150=2(x+y)

simplify


75=x+y ----> equation A


x=4y ----> equation B

substitute equation B in equation A


75=4y+y

solve for y


75=5y


y=15\ cm

Find the value of x


x=4y ----->
x=4(15)=60\ cm

therefore

The dimensions of the rectangle are

Length 60 cm

Width 15 cm
