a catcher picks up a baseball from the ground. If a force of 7.25*10^-2 N is exerted on the ball and 4.35*10^-4 J of work is done to lift the ball, how far does the catcher lift the ball?

The work is being done against gravity, and equals (Force * vertical distance).

A Joule of work is equivalent to 1 Newton-metre

So vertical distance d = work done / Force

d = 4.35*10^-2J / 7.25*10^-2 N = 0.6 m = 60cm = 600mm

Hope this helps out ^^
