2*x+2*5= 3x+1 You can then simplify

2x+10=3x+1 Subtract 3x from both sides

(2x-3x)+10=(3x-3x[cancels out])+1

-x+10=1 Now subtract 10 from both sides

-x(10-10[cancels out to 0])=(1-10)

-x=-9 Since x is negative we need to solve for positive

x=9
