A group of 13 students go rock climbing at a local gym. It costs $11 per student plus $5 for each shoe rental. If only 7 students rent shoes, what is the total cost for the group to go climbing? Use the expression 11x + 5y, where x represents the total number of students and y represents the number of students who rent shoes. * Your answer

Answer:

11 x (13 or x) = 143

5 x 7 = 35

143 + 35 = (178)

(178$) for the whole trip
