For IR to be parallel to side AE in the figure, the point I and R should be the mid points of lines AN and NE respectively, but only R has been shown to be the mid point of line NE by adding those two dashes on lines NR and RE, which means that NR and RE are equal, hence R should be the mid point of NE, whereas, Monica doesn't show that I is the mid point of AN in the same way that she has shown for R by adding dashes, hence it is an error in her reasoning that point 'I' hasn't been shown to be the mid point of AN.
