Pretend that you work as a manager at the local grocery store. Lately, you notice that your employees are not going out of their way to help people in the store. Using either positive or negative reinforcement, how would would you go about changing this? After explaining your method, state whether you used positive or negative reinforcement.

Probably negative reinforcement in this case because positive reinforcement would have worked only if they were doing something which could be appreciated and encouraged.

Some negative reinforcement will be:

》Declaring the worst employer of the month and reducing their salary by 10%.

》Conducting a poll for customer feedback. Negative review could probably hurt their sentiments.

》Warning board such as"Work better else I will replace you by AI"

》Showing Cctv footage as a proof of how they are devaluing customer and doing a counterproductive job

Honestly I think positivity is a better way to get your workers to act better or a certain way. I would offer incentives for things such as you get a paid break every couple of positive reviews an employee receives. You could also do like a employee chart that grades employees on how polite they are and you could say like the top 3 get treated to lunch. This would be positive because it benefits not only the employee by giving them rewards but it fixes the problem by persuading the employees to be polite to the customers. I could give you some negatives but as personally working in the work world positivity works way better and goes farther. Good luck and I hope this helps!
