12/16, when simplified, is equal to 3/4

3/4 = 12/x
this is a proportion, so we cross multiply
(3)(x) = (4)(12)
3x = 48
x = 48/3
x = 16
now notice this.....12/16 reduces to 3/4....probability's are nothing but equivalent fractions
