Select the choice which displays proper punctuation. A) We were a long way from our destination, we stopped at a motel for the night. B) We were a long way from our destination; we stopped at a motel for the night. C) We were a long way from our destination, we stopped at a motel, for the night. D) We were a long way from our destination; so we stopped at a motel for the night.

In order to be able to put a comma the sentences before and after the comma would have to make sense if you put a period for example you would have to be able to write ,”we were a long way from our destination. We stopped at a motel for the night.” & the sentences would have to make sense on their own ,so C can be eliminated because “for the night “ can’t be an individual sentence , D can be eliminated because a semicolan is used to take the place of words such as so and but ,I believe the answer should be A or B although I’m leaning more towards A
