Explanation:

the area of the square is (x+2)^2 and the factored form of it is x^2+4x+4

since we know the area is = 7 therefore

x^2 + 4x +4 = 7 and x^2 + 4x = 3

if you want to find the value of x :

x^2+4x+4 = 7

x^2+4x -3 = 0

(x-3)(x-1)=0

x = 3 or

x = 1
